with much annoyance my xsi still doesnt want to sit at 90 degrees : s

it was an aircon with a double fan, now its a single fan, with the air con condenser rad removed (more flow to original water radiator).

on my drive left running the car with get upto 90 and sit there fine. the heater matrix is blowing hot again at the 90degreees so that problems dissapeared. (it use to blow cold when engine was hot)

but as soon as i start moving about (driving) the needle goes down to 75ish degrees.

i asked before on here a while ago if there was a different thermostat for the non aircon (single fan)models but got told no...

so.....im unsure what to do, the only thing i can think to do is put a peice of cardboard infront of the half of the radiator where i have removed the fan.

to vaguely simulate the air flow ristriction that the old air con condensor rad used to provide?

any other ideas?

Every one I have had sits about 77-79 during normal driving including my current car which has a new genuine thermostat fitted so yours doesn't seem too far off.

Mine sits around 80 when driving about so I wouldn't worry too much.

My rallye sits at about 78 on a run. But it used to appear to sit at 83 until I had to change a faulty temp sensor. I am perfectly happy with this.

My oil temp sits at 90 once warmed and only varies a little even when the engine goes over 100 in traffic.

If i left my car idling with no airflow the temp would keep going up till the fan kicked in. It is a live gauge so shows actual temp not just sits at 90 like more modern cars

ok.... it was my understanding that the correct fuel ratio wasnt "activated" untill the engine was upto a certain temp (this temp being 90 degrees c)

i worry as my exhaust smells a little rich (nearly didnt pas mot emmisssion) and im contemplating an overfueling ratio due to this "problem"

can anyone confirm at what temp the enginne managment switches over to it "lean" mixture
