Back again,

I've replaced the ICV/stepper motor today with the hope of the car not cutting out if I take my foot off the accelerator or just approaching a junction. No. It's still horrendous.
I've checked the throttle valve is OK, ICV OK, air intake system not blocked.

Only thing I can think of now is that the lightweight flywheel is causing me a problem or the hole in my exhaust is adding to a problem further up the system.

Have any of you managed to make this cutting out go away successfully with something other than a ICV?

I had this same issue and tried a number of things and managed to fix it. I can't say what fixed it though to be honest. Have you tried the fuel relay on the back of the Ecu cover and also the power steering sensor can play silly buggers with running issues for some reason? Hope you solve it though, what year is it?

Also is the nipple bit inside the ICV screwed right back into position as mine unscrewed itself and I think that may of been the issue.

I've found that putting on the A/C has lifted the idle just enough to stop it.

If you've no A/C disconnect the compressor clutch and short out the gas pressure switch contacts. Press the A/C button and the idle should rise to 950

The hole in your exhaust won't cause this. It would run without an exhaust.

very simple fix dude.

start with a cold engine
1. disconnect your battery
2. leave 10 mins
3. reconnect your battery
4. start your car up
5. turn on everything electrical, lights, radio, fans(on cold), rear windscreen heater
6. wait for engine to warm up
7.when rad fan kicks in at 90degrees turn off engine
8. ecu reset complete

car will be fixed

Have you tried unplugging the PAS sensor?
