I start a new job at the end of January with a fair old payrise...

If I've still got it by then, then its getting the full works....

I traveled to Coventry from Kent to get my Rallye! Still got the train ticket from the day I picked it up, seems to have stopped the car breaking down so far Smile

If you aren't prepared to travel a reasonable distance, you'll continue looking to the point the values of a good one surpass what you can justify.

Well, a previous owner of the car has been in touch and is coming to look at it Saturday. He's got first refusal on it at the moment.

I'll update this with any developments after saturday

Please do update as I'm willing to travel for it. Just need to convince the wife I need one of these instead of my diesel family hatchback.

Camber on the back wheels. A knocking noise at the rear is either a shagged beam or beam mounts usually. Check the engine is not a tapper. This sounds like a noisey lifter that don't quieten down. I normally change the cambelt every 30k or 4 years so check that's up to date.

A noise lifter? Sorry I'm an idiot lol. Has a new cambelt and wp. New head gasket too. 170k worries me a bit. What is the cost of a replacement rear beam?

Overpriced IMO considering mileage and the dented quarter. Is a trader though.
