Hi gents,

Had some issues with the battery running down recently. With the car running I'm getting 12-13v across the terminals so presumably the alternator is on it's way out. Is there anything else I should check before chucking a new one in (£175 exchange for the Bosch one!)

Cheers

Yes check the terminals are tight. Then unbolt the earth wires and clean everything up.

You can check the earths are good by connecting a jump lead from the negative battery terminal to the engine/gearbox case then measure the voltage again. Might be worth checking the draw across the different earths too.

Seem to get a lot of earthing issues in 306s now they are getting older
