I spotted a thread on here where someone advised jamming something solid down by the buffer, can I ask why you need to do this (might resolve my issue?)

Hi guys, I have change the upper engine mount and the buffer thing that sites with it. The loud knocking is now gone but there is still a random light knocking that seems to be coming from the same area. I spotted a thread on here where someone advised jamming something solid down by the buffer, can I ask why you need to do this (might resolve my issue?) |

Shouldn't be knocking if its in correctly did you check the steel around the mount base sometimes needs ablob of weld if its been collecting moisture otherwise best to take a short vid post it on YouTube and set a link tis always hard to diagnose on a discription ________________________________________ BLACK RALLYE - phoenixWHITE RALLYE - valliant http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/ https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history |

The knock is almost like a rattle anf very faint, no video would pick it up. I'm sure the old mount was loose when I took it out, better have another look. |

Was the chassis leg where the mount screws into in good condition? These are very common to crack.________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone ![]() |

The bottom part of my rubber top mount once broke and that rattled under certain circumstances. Not really any help for your situation though.________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |

Ok, took it all apart again and the engine mount was loose. It had unwound it's self?!? not sure how so tightened back up and put some thread lock on (it all helps). Now any noise is gone, not sure why it unwound it's self?? |
