Help,

Does anyone know an easy / cost effective way of getting new rubber bushes off without damaging the bones?
local mechanic quoted me $160 AUD to remove the old (new) bushes, because it is time consuming.

I have front and rear bushes for the front wish bone, power flex black edition,
Do poly bushes actually make a difference from new rubber ones?

does he charge 160 an hour?

i would stick with the oe front bushes tbh, a poly one will not be any improvement here, the rear p-bush is such a doddle to do, you would have them done in minutes yourslf

Do you have sockets spanners i paid for mine to be done when i first embarked on the 306 rallye world felt such a tit after when i actually realised how it was done this is not a hard job fairly easy to take apart press in press out not saying this is the best or quickest way but once done you won't be asking a garage to do much again im on to sub frame and petrol tank removal allow yourself time and have a go

Burn out the front rubber then knock the metal bits out

the rear bush will come off with a good whack with a chisel on the sleeve.

front ones just chisel around the outside, new ones come out quite easily though, no need to burn anything, that's just messy and takes too long.

another approach is a hole cutter through the bush and knock the sleeves inwards once you have removed a tube, then just knock the other bush out from the inside.

however, as I said, the front bushes are good enough as standard, poly ones are no improvement as there's barely any rubber in them anyway, there's more material in a poly bush!
