Hi guys, it's time to pick your brains again...
My clutch cable snapped (at the clutch pedal end) so there is hardly any plastic left and what there is showing is tight to the bulkhead - I've read Welly's post and am concerned that I can't get any string tied around it, is my best bet to cut the old cable in half so the clutch cable end goes loose so I can get some rope tied around it?
Also any other hints and tips would be appreciated as it appears to be a git of a job!!!
Someone else I know said that in order to get the grommet out of the bulkhead you basically have to whack it from above with a big bar to break the seal???
Is it easier to remove the exhaust heat shield (another git of a jobLove )???
I have never known a bloomin' clutch cable be so awkward to replace!!!! Crazy

Instead of tying string around it you could clamp it to the end with a nut and bolt, or soak it in superglue and wrap it round the cable end and let it dry? Basically any other means of attaching a string to the end of the cable without tying it?

use chicken wire or garden wire to coil it up around it, works every time, i suspect it's going to go again soon as i've got a little creak on the pedal whch is probably the plastic breaking. did the last one in 20 mins in a carpark!

If you don't have AC pipes it's not that bad of a job really to be honest. The main reason it's a pain in the arse to get the plasti end through the bulkhead is because the hole it has to go through is also square so it has to be just the right way round....

In your situation I'd be levering the clutch fork to pull on the clutch whilst removing the cable from clutch end so you don't pull the cable back through the bulkhead. Then it will be slack and you can push the slack up toward the pedal if you get me so there's more to tie some string to.

Great advice chaps, I might actually remove the aircon pipes anyway as it's a track day car and doesn't even have a heater blower motor!!!
I've put some of tomorrow to one side for this and then the whole of Monday so fingers crossed Roll eyes Roll eyes Roll eyes
