I'm pulling my hair out now and I ain't got much of it as it is.
I've read some of the other posts, but seems I may have the wrong cowling setup.
When I first got the rallye the fans didn't work, so swapped the cowling for one off a phase 1 (single fan with bitron unit) has the round plug for the wiring and a blue plug going to a sensor on the rad.
It's not been working for a while and now I need to start commuting it needs to work.
So took all the front off today and tested the fan, it works.
I've got 3 other cowlings. 2 doubles with no bitron units and no blue plug to the rad sensor and another single with bitron unit.

What's my best option? Other than burning the bloody thing!

The best engine in the world is the vagina, it takes any size piston, its self lubricating, starts with 1 finger, and every 4 weeks does its own oil change. It's just a pity the management system is so fecking temperamental.

so the fan itself works, you need to test/replace the thermoswitch or the relay, simples.

of course, could be the feed or earth, how did you test it?

I'd stick with the standard setup, its reliable enough and simple when its working as intended, the AC double fan stuff seems so over complicated to me.

I literally just put a 12v feed to it.
Thermo switch? Guessing that's the sensor in the rad? I'm happy to stick the standard setup.

I would start at the switch (blue thing) check if there's 12v getting to it.

if the fan span up when you stuck 12v top it using the original earth then the earth is ok.

Didn't use any of the wires from the loom. I put wires directly to the loom connections on the fan

Do the gti6s use the blue sensors in the rad?
If not is it just a case of putting the twin fan cowling in and it'll work like the 6?

no, gti6 has ac, so uses brown sensor, Bitron control unit under the chassis leg, three relays and two fans.

so no just fitting thew fan cowling will not make it work like a 6 unless your rallye has ac.

Got 12v at the blue plug.
Got 2 more of those sensors, is it this that tells the fans to come on?

yes, bridge from the live to either of the other pins on the blue plug and low/high speed will come on.

I'm not getting 12v at the fans. Tried 2 cowlings and getting the same. 0.4v. Earth problem? Dirty connections?

ok, so its a live to the relays missing or a bad earth, can also be corroded pins in the round plug

The one on the cowling where the 2nd fan should be.

Other than that what's involved with fitting the twin fans?
I'm guessing all the wiring is there as it's the same as the 6 loom

Right. I've belled everything out, checked the 2 bitron units that I have. One belled no matter what the combination I touched, the other only worked on 2 pins.
I've put that on. I've bridged 3 to 5 on the relay plug. I'm getting power at the fan but only 0.7 now.
So I'm now even more stumped. It can only be the connections can't it?

So further investigation, and I find that I'm only getting the 0.7v at one of the pins from the multi plug.
I've followed that back and it goes to the brown 4 pin plug in the inner wing area passenger side. There's nothing in this plug though. It's stuck to a blanking plug.
