I have been debating this with my brother recently. I have told him on several occasions that these cars are beyond the realms of kids and are now more of a toy for the late 30's trying to re-live their youths! Just because he owns a 996 Turbo and a Noble M12 GTO gives him no right to judge, lol!

I thought it would be interesting to note down your age and profession to try and better understand the demographic of the GTI6 buyer.

I guess I'll start....

I'm 35 but have owned 306's since I was 19. I've had 2 gti's. My 1st one when I was 24. So not a recent toy, more of a permanent toy.

41 first 6

It was supposed to be a car to track. But liking it too much. But I want to do my Cat B race licence (just for something to do) so it will probably get some track abuse.

Hi - I'll make you all feel young. Bought my first gti 6 at 60 after watching a Top Gear show in Australia of a 205 with a 306 gti engine in it. It reminded my of my youth and punting a Cooper S only its bigger, better and more comfortable. Now 61 with three grand kids and buying bits to rebuild the car for fast road so I can take my wife for a Sunday drive but go to track days and have some fun.
I'm an accountant/ finance manager but should have been an engineer.
I have got all the bits for the suspension and will start rebuilding it soon. Looking for throttle bodies and bits for the engine so watch the site when I can. Love the camaraderie - especially Welshpug the fountain of knowledge. Love to have a beer with you guys and would like to come to Pugfest
Take care
John

Bought my 306 rallye at 22. Before I had a 106 xsi and a 205 rallye at 18. I'm 30 now and still own my 306 rallye. Which currently hasn't seen the road in 4 years but is ready for it if I could afford to run it.

I was an apprentice paint spray for an accident repair center at 16. I stayed there until I was 20 and moved on to welding for a small firm then moved on again to another job in welding but qualified as a 4G coded welder .

I'm 34, and probably the longest standing member on here (won't put that on my cv mind!) bought my first 306 hdi at 18, bought my first rallye at 20 and have owned s16's, a super high boost 306, gti-6's and rallye's since and still own a btcc 306. Need a gti-6 engined 205 in my life at some point though. I'm a gas engineer but should be building race cars for a living!

Oh, and my sister still owns my original 306 Hdi DTurbo, 130k miles and still going, although living in London its had a hard life, been broken into a few times, a cyclist crashed into it and my sister parks it under a big sticky tree so its seen better days. Still drives well though!

Im 29, bought my first 306 1.4xl from my mum for £1500 when I was 17 and learning to drive Big grin Then a few years later (about 19/20) bought an s16 with 71000 on the clocks for £1500- gti's where going for too much around that time so out of my price range at 19. Had the s16 up till May 2014 (110k on clock) when someone smashed into the front drivers side and sadly wrote it off Sad I had spent 1000's on this car over the years and kept every receipt for it, it had a full respray the year before aswell.

I was looking to go for something else after the crash like a mondeo St220 or bmw 330 but there is something in me that Love the 306...... So I decided to get a Y reg gti down the road from me as a run around for £700. I had to have the cambelt and a few other bits done to it (suspension bits) and still have it now after spending about £1500 on it in a yearShock

But then a month or so ago i saw a 97 phase 1 in silver for sale on here that caught my eye straight away so I had to have it (£2100) I have a thing for the phase 1 and a fair bit of work has gone into this one so couldn't let it go. I was looking at going down the supercharged route as there was a few up for sale over the year at good prices. Ive just seen another phase 1 on eBay with throttle bodies in Diablo looking mint and if I had the money I'd grab it up straight away.

I've been on this forum since 2004 and have learned a lot of right and wrongs, do's and dont's. If it wasn't for this forum I don't think I'd be into these cars like I am. Shame I never get to see any of you in the flesh.

Oh and I work for a building company doing anything and everything ( jack of all, master of noneWhistle )

First 306 was an xs back in 99, along with my 205 gti6 (must have been one of the first in the country back in 98 - 99!), then a blaze gti6, along with numerous mi's / turbos etc in 205's as track toys... Moved away for a few years to other things like lotus exiges etc. but always had a 205 up until about two years ago where I bought a sorned gti6, and then the rallye last year to match my 205 rallye! So at 37 am I reliving my youth?! Perhaps.... But again 205 / 306 were peugeots forte! Great cars.... And I've always preferred over Renault 5 turbos, fiestas xr / RS turbos etc. personal preference I think!

My little boy is 4, and we've his first 'pug' a 1992 k plate 205 1.9 gti... Tucked away nicely in storage for him for when he is older... Might be worth a few quid in ten years or so (here's hoping)...

If it wasn't for us in our late twenties upwards no one would be keeping 205's / 306's etc on the road!
