nope no smoke, but it does lift the dipstick out the tube after a high rpm drive
engine is on 140K

I do hope its not bottom end as i have another engine with a bottom end gone with a fully rebuilt head I could mate this too

I've decided what's happening with this anyway after a sleep....
the girls getting Sorned before the month is out engine gearbox out treat engine bay for any rust then refit new engine and box ive rebuilt over the last year

thats one hell of a knock, itll be fooked.

when the noise starts it doesn't do it on idle, only on change of speed, thatll be scrap rod and crank most likely, and with that much blow by the borea will probably take an oversized piston without machining...

tonight I got bored so stripped the sad engine

timing pinned up OK although the timing belt was a little slack, started to inspect the pulleys and belt and found this on the inlet pulley.........

once I took the pulley off and undone the bolts the cracked centre fell out!

took head off head looked good no obvious marks on the valves or pistons

took the bottom end off no obvious picked up or spun bearings

not looked at the block yet

so now where?
would a slack belt or damage pulley cause that much noise?
i guess ive got to get the journals sized
and get the valves out the head and spin them up to see if any are bent

Had the same issues regards the pulleys loads of times, luckily everyone was fine once changed over to the later sort, should you need any let me know, have a few in stock.

I would have changed the pullies and not gone so far in mate, pullies would have sorted it.

the crank plastigauge's up within spec with a set of new std bearings so the crank will go again

interesting find on the inlet valves
running them round on the desk they dont look bent but all the inlets have a strange ribbed looking effect on the stems
