Some do that, depends on design and preload if it's a plated diff.

I agree with rich. Personally ive only broke 2 boxes one was a gti6 one and more recently the hdi box. Hdi box lasted 4500k but failed at coombe on the 93rd lap. Currently trying to find a solution with yune gears

Describe not too bad lol. Only done 1000miles on a fresh gearbox fresh diff. Thinking the oil overheated possibly. But as you say have to wait gearbox should be out tonight have a standard one to go in but we will see what happens. Thinking it may need an external oil cooler and pump to keep it cooler!

you need to figure what the problem is first, get some temperature strips on the casing and use it.

I use a standard gearbox on mine, Miles from here reconditioned it and shot peened and coated the gears for strength.
That was at the beginning of 2009, did a year of high boost with it and then been super high boost since 2010 - it's had 2012 and 2014 off the road but was used very hard in 2010, 2011 and 2013. Cool

I don't think my hard and you're hard are the same Stan Smile. Mine had miles take apart and fit some new bearings 1000 miles ago. But I can now confirm it has broken my lsd! And the gearbox is also broke! Will take more photos off it tomorrow.

Well that (could )be why the lsd broke then as Wayne did an emergency stop from 153 mph on the rollers when the gearbox broke lol but I think it was something else myself?

LSD should be fine on the rollers, it's brake testing they don't like, when you stop hold one wheel and spin the other.

Is the diff broke? What's broke on it? Braking on the rollers won't cause a diff to break, both wheels are turning at the same speed. The limiting factor is also traction, and one would hope it takes more force to break your diff than it does to break traction , otherwise your diff wouldn't last very long...

You mentioned one of the CV joints had sprayed grease everywhere? Is the rest of the driveshaft ok? If it snapped or failed, the sudden transfer of load into the other driveshaft could potentially break a diff but it'd be unusual, I'm sure they come across greater forces on rally stages!

ML gearbox time? Or maybe a Saab one?
Treating gears basically does nothing unless they are brand new. Even then we've found it to be pretty useless.
Ended up using entire new gearsets custom built for the task but even those have issues over 900lbft
