Hi, does anyone know if the front wheel bearings go tight after the driveshafts are bolted in?

I changed both front bearings a little while ago on my gti6. The car is off the road, engine rebuild etc anyway i had to take the driveshaft back out and i noticed one off the hubs had lots off play in the bearing although its a new bearing. Just baught a new bearing and the inner race/sleeves has massive amounts of play so i can only imagine that when the hub nuts are done up they 'clamp' the bearing?

hub nuts do clamp them indeed, if the car has sat or been moved without the nut the inner race may well have moved a little, nip the nuts up to torque and see what happens.

What mei says!

New wheel bearing often have 'play' in them until the shaft is in and tight to pre-load them. You shouldn't really leave the car sat/move it around without a shaft in and tight👍
