Hey guys, today on this extremely rare hot Scottish day I noticed when I have the windows down every time I come to a stop I can smell fuel I can't really pin point exactly where it's coming from but it's definitely not from the vents, but I think the lambda sensor is goosed as I've been getting a slight misfire when cold and when under load could it be this? Or that Evap thingy?

Check the green and white square elbows where your fuel lines come into the engine bay. The 2" piece of fuel pipe that joins them and the circlips that connect it all are notorious for leaking, top left of the engine bay Thumbs up

Mine were spraying fuel straight onto the exhaust manifold when they leaked Yes

I had a similar situation about a year ago, just bought a phase 3 and every time I opened the window it would stink of petrol to the point it was making me feel ill. When I shut the window the smell would go ( I thought it would be the other way) Anyway, there was a black ring in the boot that I wasn't sure what it was for (looked like a speaker surround)

Turned out it was the fuel pump ring thats under the rear seat, it was a right pain in the bum to get back on especially when it was a hot day and stinking of petrol. Had to put some serious pressure down onto it whilst trying to turn it with a flat head screwdriver on the ridges. I could see why the previous owner didn't bother putting it on.

If the smell is from the drivers rear wheel arch area its worth removing the arch liner and checking rubber filler neck elbow. They can perrish and give off vapours before they leakThumbs up

I think it is coming from the offside rear tbh will check this weekend is there a breather next to the filler neck or is the Evap the breather?
