Guys,

Who manufactures the beam bearings for Peugeot (I.e SKF, Timken etc) and does anyone have part numbers for them?

Refurbing a beam for my Rallye. Having stripped it, the stub axles look fine. The bearings don't look too bad at all but they are being replaced anyhow.

I imagine buying the bearings from Peugeot is similar to me buying rear wheel bearings for my buggy. From the VW parts specialists, they are £19.50. Come in an SKF box with a part number. Same bearing, from a bearing specialist is £7.70. I'm not paying a shed load extra for the same bearing, just because it came out of a Peugeot box or bag. In my eyes, its still a genuine part, just without the silly Peugeot mark up.

So, anyone got any ideas?!

Cheers

snr made them, peugeot do a bearing kit which is about £16 a side inc the seal.

or buy the kits on ebay with the shafts for about £40 a side, as it's very rare a beam doesn't need shafts if the bearings are done.

The bearings aren't done. They have seen some life yes, but seems will not to change them whilst the beam is in pieces. I'll get some pics of the shafts...

you can't tell if the shafts are in need of replacement just by looking at them. They will need measuring. I almost guarantee they will need doing and if they aren't, the rebuild won't last all that long.

Hmmmmm, fair point Niall.

Anyone got the measurements of what a good shaft should be?
