Hi all,

I somehow have managed to get a water leak in my boot. It's not too bad but would like it sorted. As you can see the carpet covering the inside of the rear quarter is wet along the bottom on the seam...

The boot insulation seems to be wet in the right hand bottom corner which would point to the rear light but I've had the light out and behind it is dry? I did notice there was some water where the jack is kept, just below the rear light but can't see where the water would come from?

Anyone got any ideas where this could be coming from?

Cheers.

Graham

Could be:

Rear window seals
Rear light seals
Sunroof
Rusty hole in rear arch but unlikely if you have arch liners

Rear lights can be removed in seconds and the seals given a bit of vaseline to soften them up.

Arch liners are present Welshy and no sunroof RetroPug. I thought it could be the window seals, but surely I would see damp right down the arch and not just at the bottom?

I think it can run down behind the plastic trim below the window and then along the boot sometimes. The insulation under the seats will possibly be damp if this is the case.

I'd spray the rear lights with a hose and see if anything gets through. Possibly the boot seal isn't quite sitting right? Tapping the seals on windows and doors very gently with a rubber mallet is good if they're not seated correctly.

When I first got the ph.1 I had a leaking sunroof, rear lights, rear windows and aerial. Laugh my ass off

Had a look under the rear seats tonight - the insulation on top isn't wet, but underneath is looks like there is condensation being trapped? A leak somewhere or just too much moisture trapped in the car?

Yep, boot is only wet at the drivers side but the light is dry when I take it out. Might just sit in the car and get someone to run a hose over it.

Good call, sometimes the pipe running through the inner roof lining gets blocked and then could rupture - which would send fluid down behind the quarter panel trims.

I had this problem years ago, although luckily mine didn't burst - just needed unblocking.
