there are some o.e solid pulleys from other vehicles that might work, only thing is they tend to use freewheeling alternators instead of the crankshaft damper.

its there for a reason, I'd be inclined to just stick another one, not like it'll fail again before the end of the vehicles life.

Any chance you could describe the noise, above the normal clatter of the diesel engine, I don't know what to listen for. Still getting used to a HDI.

It's usually a deep rattling/knocking rough sound, is on other cars I've heard amyway
I had one on mondeo suddenly fail and it wasn't even very old and didn't sound too bad, all that happened is it flattened the battery down eventually and it cut out, it should of put the battery light in really to tell me there was a charging issue but it didn't, the Middle was just spinning and the outside bit with the belt on wasn't

I suppose when you've got the power steering pump on the same belt you would notice straight away or possibly crash when it suddenly fails.

Mine sounds like a loud clappy, clicky noise. Some trips it is quiet but more frequently it is becoming louder and more often. I thought about the solid ones but then realised its just my daily and i need the funds for my toy. Cheers Pete. I should have asked you first really, lol Thumbs up

On the other cars I've heard It tends to only sound rough in tickover, as soon as u Rev the engine slightly it goes away and sounds ok.
Never heard it on a Peugeot tho, but I presume it's the same thing

I agree cheap parts are proper s**t, every time I buy them they don't last long at all and although genuine is much better I don't even think the genuine parts are as good or last as long as the ones fitted originally from the factory.
