Hi Guys.

I drive ph1 Xsara VTS ITB setup once in a month at Istanbul Park. It's a 5km long and quite fast track.

I have original 5 speed VTS box and here's the dyno graph from Mustang Dyno ;

It's 188ps and 177nm at the wheels so 229ps and 216nm at the crank.

Here's a video from the track day session from last Sunday. I had varex exhaust problem, electric motor was stuck just before the 2 sessions I had so engine wasn't revving well at high rpm's. You can jump to 3:05 to see best lap ;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGR0IAHerOw

I can reach upto 196-198km's on the last straight based on HLP.

VTS's 4th and 5th gears are quite long. I plan to shorten 4th and 5th gears.
I hope guru's from the forum check above info and tell me if that's a good idea.

How can I do above if you recommend so ? Which parts I need to buy ? Any part numbers or sources recommended ?

thanks
Kemal

Well... You can build a box using various different Peugeot BE box parts. Welshpug will be along at some point to explain exactly what he built into my box. Max speed at 7k rpm is 127mph. It's awesome...

4.42 FD with 205 gti gears, only possible with BE1 and early BE3 shafts, later BE3 4.42's were BE4 style and used a double spline under 3rd & 4th so the 205 stuff wont fit.

its very close to the ratios of the 6 speed box but with shorter 1st and 2nd, and no 6th.

if you are getting to 200 kph then that's probably the limiter in 4th, it really doesn't take my zx long to get there and I'm on a standard xsara box.

First seems long in the 6 to me. I would be happy with 110 mph max in my sardine tin, wouldnt dream of going faster without a cage etc. Probs be in a box after a crash at 50 in one of theae things

no, you'll have a BE4 box in an 01 car, the later BE3 stuff was around 97-98, the gti6 box is a BE3-4 hybrid, half the casing is stamped BE4, half BE3!

205 gti 1.9 I believe.

Hi Mossy, it's built for anything really. Track, sprints and hopefully some sort of rallying. It's mega until you sit on the motorway for 2 hours. My car uses a standard gti engine but is a bit lighter. 110 max would be awful - I'm in 5th for a lot of road time anyway and I'll hit 115+ at combe. Nearly did 110 at pembray sprint last weekend...

ive never looked into what later vehicles have ratios of be4 style similar to the 205 yet, as ive had early final drive shafts to hand.

might be something from the 206 or 207 gti

Some local gearbox techs told that 307 1.4 hdi and several other 5 speed box gears can be used but they wanted me to take the gears out first.

I guess I should change final drive first and shorten all the gears and try than dive into changing gears.

I have checked possible FD upgrade options on teammfactory web site and found that 4.9-5.0 range FD will be very good for me ;

http://www.teammfactory.com/gear-calculator

Is there any of the shelf or used gearbox FD which I can use in BE3 box with 4.9-5.0 ratio ?
