I made coilovers from Bilstein B6's for my 405 but I ran in to a problem with shock just being too long. When desired ride height is selected shaft of the shock is at the lowest point which creates no shock rebound. Anyhow I've been looking in to Ebay brand coilovers V-Maxx,TA-Technix,Max Track and so on. Have any of you had any experience with these coilovers?
I don't track my MI16 at all I just drive it on the weekends at times.

Thank you.

405's dont take too well to lowering, if its just road driving I would leave it 100% stock, its a fantastic chassis.

never heard of x-brand, the other names mentioned are ones I cant believe can actually be sold as fit for purpose.

Factory ride height is just terrible on US 405's and one foot wheel gap just don't look right with aftermarket wheels. I was looking at 306 coilovers.

The bodies in the picture look very long! Are they 405 b6 bodies? Maybe you could get proper 205 bilstien adjustable platform bodies and use them with your inserts?

405 springs generally are very long, thats why they ride so well I think.

They don't look like b6 in the photo.

B8 is the same as b6 but with a shorter shaft. Then use shorter springs, maybe a helper too

Yes those are 405 B6's they also have hardness adjustable screw on the bottom. Have any of you used those Ebay coilovers? At this point I just may order a set and give it a try.

B6 aren't adjustable, its probably an inverted damper and the bottom of the piston shaft you can see.

do you have a picture of your ride height and the distance from jacking point to the road?

Problem is not my ride height. Have you read my original post? I just need input if any of those coilovers that I listed above have been used before by any of the members and I would appreciate any experience shared.

There is adjustment screw on the bottom of the shock just like old school Koni's.

If they're adjustable they're not b6s as said.

All the dampers you mention in your first post will fit but they're cheap disposable crap IMO. The dampers you have must be decent quality as they're inverted, I'd look at using them personally.

I'm fairly certain that no one on this forum has fitted any of the coilovers you mention on a 405, its a 306 forum and there's only a couple of us on here that have had anything to do with 405s!

I have looked after a 405 for 13 years, albeit a diesel estate LOL

got an mi16 kicking about too.

they have quite long springs as standard, and dont suit extreme lowering.

Yes I know this is 306 forum as I did purchase 306 GTI-6 drive train for my 405 Wagon and here in US we have no parts or resources so I posted it here to try to get as much information as I can. From what I have read 306 front coilovers fit 405's,being a newer then 405 it makes it lot easier to fined aftermarket parts.

Yes I'm very well aware of it however with proper suspension modifications it can be extremely low. I'm not trying to go extremely low here at all it's just with lowering springs it was still bit too heigh for my taste and now if I could go back I would just purchase AVO's.
I end up getting those Billi's for a good price but body of it end up just being too long.

I wouldn't waste any money on cheap coilovers! You get exactly that - CHEAP COIL OVERS. Get some new std shocks and slap on some eibach springs

Believe me this is far from low. I'm looking at 405 AVO's or 306 KW's and 306 GAZ. I would love to get KW's but I've read that rear shocks out of 306 can't fit 405 :-(
