One of the small niggles on my car is the oil temp gauge , on start up the lights for the gauge come on it will tell me the oil is a 90 or 140 it will sit at whichever one it chooses and then the lights go off and the gauge dies and does nothing more ,
Admittedly I have not looked into it any more it's my understanding the plug for it is located in a similar place to the 106 and 205 , on the back of the sump
Is this a common issue?

front of the sump, turn the ignition on, let it do its thing with the oil level then short the oil temp sender plug to earth, if the wiring is good the gauge will go to the top.
