Been a while since I was last on here. Time to start a project thread on my black Rallye. I have had the car since I was 18 so been in my position for about 9 year now. Done a load of work on the car since I have had it, too much to put down in writing but sure the pics will give you an idea.
Had a few engine builds over the last few year but at the minute I am just running a standard rallye engine with my 45mm jenvey bodies, maniflow manifold and lightened, balanced flywheell and Emerald ECU running around 185BHP.
Engine I had build up a year or 2 ago and cost be a small fortune had a lot more work. Last engine was running 248bhp & 205lbft. 88mm knife edge MI16 crank, GTi6 Forged H section rods & 87mm high compression wossner pistons, Cometic head gasket, fully rebuilt gas flowed head with BTCC cams and solid lifters, 45mm Jenvey throttle bodies, maniflow 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, Lightened and balanced flywheel, lightened crank pulley. Engine was awesome, pulled like a train and surprised a lot of people until it dropped a valve and f**ked my head and piston so that was the end of that Sad

Anyway upto date with things. I have now took the rallye off the road to restore back to its former glory and to build a new engine Cool I will be stripping the car back to pretty much a bare shell and putting it in for a full respray inside and out.
New engine will be bigger and better than my last one and hopefully will last this time.
92mm crank, new forged rods and either 87 or 88mm pistons, not decided on that just yet. Head work will be going 1mm bigger valves, BTCC cams I already have in my old engine, gas flowed head, 50mm jenveys. then what ever else I can think of when the time comes.

Now enjoy my pics, I will try put them all in order from when I 1st bought the car to how it is now Thumbs up

Then after 8 month!

2.2's are always good performers, but I urge you to not use the BTCC cams or 50's, you need to address the whole package properly, BTCC cams were made to a specific set of rules, use an off the shelf profile known to work well on your engine will give a more rounded delivery far easier to drive, and unless youre really pushing the envelope 50's are just way too big.

valves are more than big enough btw, and stick to 87mm Smile

also, 205 lbft from 2044cc? REALLY??

Mei just dug the book out with the info off my last engine.
used an XU10J4RS block with an XU9J4 crank
87mm bore
Stroke 88mm
Compression 11.8-1
making a 2092cc

That measuring the bores with oil and not a rough guess to find the true cc of the engine. I will dig out the RR print out what I got from Track&Road in Essex but figures are off the top of my head but sure its around what I have said. Was a good 2-3 year ago when I done that engine. As for cams its all down to the engine spec really and what I decide I want to do.
Your input is appreciated and taken into account but what would be the reason for not using 50 jenveys on a 92mm crank and 87mm pistons?

I'm just going off a few conversations myself and DCC have had with Sandy really, Dan has ummed and ahhed for many years about building a 2.2 so we have a reasonable idea of costs and parts needed, 48's should be sufficient unless you're aiming really high.

Dan even went and bought a brand new 2.2 crank from a mate of his that had one, and I aquired an used one too Ninja

205 lbft on a 2.1 is still bloody good but achievable with the right approach, I have seen 196 on a 2.2 with a standard Mi16 head and just an inlet cam upgrade! that one was running 240 bhp through 46mm bike bodies.
