Guys,

Whilst removing the fuel tank, one of the studs that the tank straps mount on, sheared. It's left approx 2cm of stud remaining. Circled in red here.

Am in a bit of a quandary as to how to repair. Couple of ways I'd thought of. One way would be to drill the spot welds out, remove that chassis section, replace the stud and have the section welded back on. Bit of a ballache. Thought about drilling the stud out, tapping the hole and sticking another section of threaded rod in there and securing with a spot weld or two?

Don't know, hence me asking!

Any thoughts?

My hdi did this. Had about the same amount left, but was still able to seat the strap and put the nut on with 1xd engagement. Have you laid the strap over it to determine if repair is necessary? Never gave me any grief in 100k.

I haven't yet undone mine for precisely this reason - the nut looks a bit smaller in circumference than it once was!
