Just having a look at the differences between the 2 rads and the only difference I see is the take off hose on the header tank for the heat exchanger, is this correct?

Been thinking of binning the heat exchanger for a while. Been told you can just take it off and put the oil filter back on? Is that correct? Or get a Mocal oil cooler with thermostatic plate. And obviously changing the top rad pipe.

Can't seem to find any new nissens rads, only xsi ones. The heat exchanger take off hose is in the way of boost pipes anyways so would be nice to ditch it if poss.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah you can do away with the heat exchanger and fit an oil filter with a 205 threaded insert.

I've a used Nissens rad in '6 fitment surplus here.
