Yes here we go again! Yet another eddy project! Laugh my ass off
Well as most of you know i picked up my rallye last night. It needed a water pump as it had been over heated but decided i would pull the engine out and do the head gasket to be safe and check the head too.
Been busy this week working on a mates rallye so thought since i put a bit time into his i would do the same with mine. Plan is to pull the engine out, pressure wash the engine bay and clean up the patches where the paint has started flaking off. Am not going to go into a load of boring detail but the engine is ready to lift out tomorrow morning as its now time to get ready to go to top gear live in newcastle.
Heres the car anyway

Thoughts on the standard air box? I have never had a 6/rallye with a standard air box and filter so dont know what to make of it but are they worth changing or keeping? The air box has a brand new filter in. I personally have always found the BMC CDA to be best over open cone K&N filters what is really pretty much the same kind of thing as a standard air box.

I had some sort of generic open cone induction kit fitted to my 6 when i bought it but the fact the filter was just sat on the top rad hose i thought i would do away with it. I replaced it with standard airbox and gen pug filter. It made the car alot quieter and in my opinion it seemes to run better? Could be a placebo but thats what i think

Well thats the engine out. I will strip that tomorrow S its been crap weather today, soaked right through but most of that was off the pressure washer LOL cleaned up the engine bay a little. Quite pleased with how well it has come out to be honest, was expecting to find a load of crappy bits what was going to need painting ect... but its not too bad really.
Got new head gasket, bolts and timing belt to pick up tomorrow then i can make a start on fixing the engine and hopefully have it back in tomorrow and back on all 4 wheels then its ready for its MOT.

Yeah thats another thing that needs sorting! They have been cut and used as a martix bypass! Take it the heater martix will need replacing too. Also can you still get the bulk head heat shields from Peugeot? Another thing thats missing.

There was talk of a group buy of stainless heat shields or some sort of shield but it never materialised. Pity as i could do with one when i come to do my transplant

Yeah think that was a little while back. Standard head shields do the job good enough or i could always just heat wrap my manifold i suppose.
What GTi6 do you have mossy? Still got the saxo?
