Hi all,

Considering a xsara estate hdi as a daily and found a good one but the air con doesn't work. Do they suffer the same problems as the 306? Or does it really just need "regassing"

They tend to suffer a little less due to the engine bay seeming to be a little better shielded, so its probably only been inoperative a few years not ten LOL

You can take it to kwik fit who will only charge for regas if it works. And they can usually identify the problem.

That's a good shout.
If you regas it you'll likely just be making the hole in the ozone layer bigger. LOL

My old 306 did have working aircon when I bought it...somehow!

The two pipes that run along the front crossmember usually corrode through on the points they are mounted. That's the most common area anyway. I've had 2 306's with working AC so far out of about 7 lol

I've put new pipes on mine as I was refreshing the condenser etc anyway. Got a big tub of grease to cover the pipes in, once I've done my front end refresh.

I actually think it was the spring clip that ess broken on mine. Will get my old pipes pressure tested at some point.
