Just checking with the people with options, what brands are around, which are good quality, what have people used, best longevity, etc.

Bearing in mind for a track car.

Also do people have some sets around for sale at all?

Cheers

I'm interested in coilovers too now. As it seems the B12 kit doesn't always fit (and with my luck......).

Although i'm more for fast road. Still be interesting to read opinions v B12s.

Yes nz, not much available here at all. I mention Peugeot and the performance shops scoff and say they don't deal in peugeots... So looking at importing so that's why I ask on opinions as I don't have the ability to trial different ones.

Budget, um I can always work o/t shifts and get more car money but looking around the £500 mark +/- a couple hundred for second hand items, then I'd be interested in new items prices I guess.

at £500 you'll just be looking at std diameter stuff like Bilstein B8 with an Eibach spring or similar, you're looking at double that for a decent bottom level Coilover.

I'm not sold on their description of the kits with regards to all out performance. They seem to talk alot about comfort levels and looking good (optics) and being sportive? I assume sporty is what they mean which just sounds mid level to me? I want to be hearing optimal performance for rigorous track use etc

hey hang on i'm merely putting a brand forward within a budget LOL if it was me, i'd be putting £5k btcc units on and selling the car after a month for £800 after getting bored, but that's just me

i remember reading good things about the AP units though. think phillipm told me they came from the same factory as bilstein or KW so were basically rebranded

I've had AP coilovers on a couple of my previous cars (not 306s).

They were very good for the price. As a budget to mid-range coilover, you won't get much better for the price.

As Rikky mentions, AP are a KW brand (as are Weitech).

KW - top of range
Weitech mid range
AP - base range

For fast road I would prefer a B8/B6 and Eibach spring setup though over the APs though.

What purpose do you want coilovers for specifically? Is it the ability to adjust them to your liking in which case fair enough or is it because you think they're better for on track than the bilsteins etc?

My full track spec MX5 has Meister-R coilovers on which are unbelievable but I wouldn't put anything less than upper to top of the range coilovers on a car, from experience you adjust them once or twice until you like your settings then just leave them, and more often than not you'll find that the settings you picked are pretty damn close to the ones you would have had if you just fitted some uprated shocks and springs.

If I was going to track my '6 I'd be jumping on the b12 setup which seems to be a well proven kit.

Was looking mainly at the coil overs because of having a fairly standardised coil spring design. Because here in New Zealand I don't have a range for different spring rated spring for a Peugeot I'd be easier to ask for one for a branded coilover..

My budget for them is a front pair, I've got a few sets of koni adjustable dampers for the rear and unless someone can give me a reason, I was just going to keep these.

I've just got hold of some almost new front AP's for very very cheap. Thought for the time it takes to wack them on its worth trying them out and if I don't like them they will sell on easily.

Those APs they aren't dampening adjustable are they? I didn't find much information on them.

No unfortunately not. I was really after GAZ gold fronts to match my rears which are bump and rebound adjustable but I got the AP's for around £100 7 months old pretty much brand new so thought sod it I'll throw them on when I get 5 and see if their alright.
