Ok so after smashing the ABS sensor cover whilst changing my suspension I now have an ABS light showing on the dash. I have just picked up a super cheap hub with a known working ABS sensor fitted, the problem is I now need to swap the sensors over and everyone I have mentioned it too have sucked their teeth and told me its not going to be easy.

I have the spare hub soaking in WD40 and gave the one currently on the car a spray too, Ill get some GT85 tomorrow and put that on as well. My worry obviously is snapping the sensors when removing,if I snap the spare it isn't the end of the world but if I snap the one on the car will I be left with half of it stuck in the hub? I really don't want to have to change the hub over so any tips as to how to get these out would be a huge help.

Cheers

A lot of WD or similar and tap it out with a socket I find works best.

You have to be careful not to go too hard but a socket will fit over the center to stop that getting damaged and you shouldn't damage the plastic if you are patient and don't hit it too hard.

I've done it to a few and they've all still worked fine

FFS.Just been and checked the hub and its a near side, the broken ABS sensor is on the off side. Why is nothing ever simple! Back to looking for one then I guess.

Cheers Ryan, when I get the right one I will tap it out from the back, how about removing the one on the car?WD and some mole grips?

Although the front sensors are sided it is only the cable length that is different. The actual sensors are the same.

Removal off the car is easy. Place a socket over the end of the sensor that allows the protruding end of the sensor to sit inside and gently tap the sensor out from the inside of the hub.

You can use that method on the car too if you take the driveshaft out of the hub.

Just cost Jord, my next pay cheque isn't until the end of January and 50 odd quid is a lot of money right now. I've managed to get this one out of the hub so I'll look at removing the one on the car now.

Cheers folks.

Plug the one you have in anyway and see it it puts the light out, at least you will know.
