Hi folks,

Just been down to pug to pick up new bolts for my suspension rebuild. They didn't have ball joint pinch bolts in stock just the lower strut pinch bolt, however they look absolutely identical as far as I can see and are both 10.9?

So are they the same and its just one is slightly shorter or a different head or are they noticeably different?

You may find that the strut one has more shank, and thus stick out too much to be nipped up.

I may have one at hand to check. I'll look later if I think of it.

If you could that would be great, the bolt I took off the ball joint didn't have any shank at all!

The local pug dealership is 15 miles away so its a right old trek for a bolt if I can use the ones I have.

BJ pinch bolt shank is 20mm. What's the shank on the strut punch bolts you have? Any more than 25mm and I think you're going to be out of luck.

I recently refreshed my suspension using all new bolts from Pug. Spent a bit of time matching up part numbers on the new parts to fitment etc.

IMHO these parts are not interchangeable, they are substantially different. Do not even attempt it.

Just order the new ones, it only takes 2 days for them to arrive.

Have a look for a local fixings place. They should have something on the shelf with the correct shank length. If the threaded part of the bolt is longer than the original it's no big deal.
