Hi all, got something which seems like a fault but unsure as maybe it is normal.
Recently fitted throttle bodies and a genuine FSE adjustable pressure regulator, set at 3 bar and running standard injectors.
The thing is, i noticed the pressure regulator and fuel hoses pulsing (like a high pressure hydraulic line shutting off), its a constant pulsing about half the engine speed which seems to coincide with a sort of knocking tapping from the engine. Very faint not a loud knock.
The engine idles fine and drives as normal, although its not mapped on a rolling road yet. My fuel pressure guage is oil filled, so damped and gives a stable reading. I guess if it wasn't damped it would be pulsating too.
Thinking it might be the injectors, i unplugged them one by one with the engine running and although the revs dropped, i could still feel the fuel hoses pulsating.
I can't feel any where else on the block or head the same knocking vibrations just on the regulator and hoses.
Voltages to the ECU are fine, i bridged the inertia switch as well just to make sure that wasn't causing a problem but still the same.
Was wondering if the fuel pump is releasing the pressure or if the fuel filter could have something to do with it (yet to put a new one in).
Thank's for reading the long post.Smile

Best bet is to ditch the FSE and fit a normal fixed FPR, they are notorious for wandering.

sounds like the pump may be on its way out, or a dodgy alternator not giving steady voltage.

Actually now you mention that, i think i measured 14.8V on the ECU yesterday, at idle which i thought was a bit high. I think i'll go and measure it again now. I bought the FSE thinking it was a good quality part, couldn't afford the Aeromotive one.

no need for expensive things, a standard FIXED reg will do.
