What needs to be off the car in order to swap engine looms?

It looks as if I would be able to swap them with the car jacked up and the front bumper removed, is this the case or do more things need moving? Planning on swapping it rather than trying to repair mine so that my rev counter and RCL work. I'm sure mine is damaged near the plugs like lots of Ph.1 looms are but I can't see it and I'd really just like anything working.

On the other hand, if anyone is handy with electronics in the midlands and thinks this would be an easy re-soldering and re-insulating job for an hour or two then feel free to let me know and I'd happily hand over beer tokens for a successful repair.

Cheers

You only need to remove the inlet manifold, nothing else. Smile

That was another option I had in my head but was trying to avoid it. Managed to warp two last time I did that!

engine loom goes nowhere near the bumper

rcl wont be caused by anything broken there. rev counter probably just dirty contact in the lom multiplug

Just rethought and yeah bumper off won't help as it's not in front of the rad...d'oh.

I have this precise problem, oil level works, oil pressure doesn't, rev counter I get 1/3 of the signal and RCL doesn't work.

I did take off the plugs and they looked very clean but didn't inspect them properly. I suppose that should be my next port of call. I'm hoping it isn't faulty clocks due to the several concurrent faults that are all supposedly to do with that bit of wiring and connector.
