Ceramic pads are supposed to make less noise, less vibrations, less dust, and so, I suppose they´ll be a lot better for squealing purposes. Has anyone tried ceramic pads with 406 Brembo + 288 discs?

Nobody ever tried this? Maybe this solves the problem, or at least improves the squealing. Gonna try a set of ceramics, and see how it goes

The ones I ordered are Hawk Peformance Ceramic pads. Says they are made from a ceramic compound that reduces noise, vibration and harshness. Dunno

You need to be doing some serious speed and in a tight track to get them warm enough to give you some brakes. Ceramic are awful without heat, so I wouldn't even try to drive them on the road.

You're clearly confusing carbon-ceramic discs with the ceramic pads the OP is talking about, where they simply use ceramic particles in place of some / all of the metal particles usually found in brake pads.

I've looked into carbon pads before I went upto 330mm and Ferodo and Mintex state that their carbon pads are not for road use due to the heat they need.

I ran one such Ferodo compound - DS1.11 - on a road 306 a few years back, and besides dust caking issues and lacking a little bite when cold and they were an excellent pad, and superb once warmed up.

That's the pad I was looking into, it looks like a good choice for track but on the other forums (Clio site IIRC, I couldn't find anything on here) there were people saying it was hard to keep the heat in them, especially with a small hot hatch. For bigger saloon cars, people were praising them

They are no race pads, just a ceramic compound, that appears to perform better than common pads, and the main features according to the manufacturer are:

- Extremely quiet–engineered to reduce brake NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness)
- Increased stopping power
- Increased rotor life
- Extended pad life
- Ultra-low dust
- Stable friction output
- Ideal for import and domestic sports cars and luxury cars

This actual pad, this same part number is sold for:

DODGE VIPER
FORD MUSTANG SVT COBRA TYPE R
FERRARI 360
FERRARI 612 SCAGLIETTI
FERRARI F430

Yeah but all those cars are high performance cars which mean the brakes operate a high temp.

Yep, bust must perform well under light break and cold also. They are for street use, although for high performance cars, they're still driven around city and traffic
