Hi folks,

My car sits about 10-15mm lower on the drivers side rear than the nearside rear and I have been informed it is most likely the rear shocks?

Now I would like to rectify this however If its a case of removing the rear beam to do so I won't have the time. I'm handy enough with a set of spanners but my tools and lifting gear are all in Blackpool at my parents house and I'm living in Manchester so its a 2 hour job just getting the gear together which isn't great when I have one day a week off!

If the shocks can be removed without taking the whole rear beam off I think I will tackle the job myself.

Cheers!

Rear shocks come off easily, you don't need the beam off. Ride height is determined by the torsion bars(springs) not the dampers. A knackered damper may give a slight discrepancy in ride height but probably not 15mm.

Remove both dampers with the car on flat ground and re-check your ride height.

The service history has a receipt for a rear beam overhaul less than 2k ago which tends to make me thing either they didn't change the bearing OR they did a crap job of resetting the rear beam.

Sounds like they've just set it wrong or fitted the arb with a load of preload perhaps. Should be easy enough to rectify although a bit more involved than changing the dampers.

How much would you charge to have a look at it Allan? You aren't a million miles away.
