My cts has snapped in half but is still sealing. If I leave it unplugged will the engine just default to running rich? Will there be any problems other than worse economy?

eventually you'll have a knackered cat and pistons rings from running too rich, after that it'll be bore wash and a knocking bottom end from contaminated oil.

that's just the worst case scenario of course.

Ok.

I've a whole spare housing on another car but I can't get one of the bottom hoses off for the life of me, or I could drill the CTS out I suppose. I need the car to go to work in the morning!

The sensor has a plastic core inside the metal, I'm wondering if the metal is just heat-conductive casing?

loosen the 13mm bolts holding the metal pipe onto the block and you'll get the pipes off the back of the thermostat housing.

Ok thanks I'll have a look at that.
I've superglued the sensor together, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to wind it out if it holds together.

Edit: Undoing that bolt worked really well, thanks.

If this listing is to be believed, the CTS is common between the gti6 engine and the S16 etc. Is this the case?

I don't imagine a peugeot one being this cheap and they almost certainly aren't made by peugeot anyway. The one that snapped in half was from a dealership!

Yeah it definitely looks the same, but it is whether or not it gives out the same voltages for the same temperatures etc. It is very likely to be the same. I suppose when I stop being lazy I'll check part numbers on service box or something.
