Is it possible to gain any neg. camber by slotting the holes where the strut is fastened?

I don't think it is buddy. Don't think the spring would seat right at the top, and im not sure on clearance of the topmount to the inner wing unless you were to possibly grind some away.
It's not something i'd attempt to do with standard topmounts, i can recommend the adjustable topmounts that Bridgecraft do, they are a work of art. Yes

You'll gain very little slotting the holes like Steve says above. You either want coilovers and spherical bearing top mounts or your hubs modifying for more camber.

Just buy some adjustable top mounts and be done with it.

No point bodging it or cheaping out when they aren't all that expensive anyway...
