Stan, for this place to survive you need to get him to hand out more powers. His lack being on here is killing this place which is being emphasised with GTI7.

It is a shame to see the club end up like this. When I joined this place was a hive of activity and it was almost impossible to keep up with all the new threads and replies. Average of about 35-50 members on every day. Even 10-15 throughout the night.

It's a shame that all the 'power' seems to be held by one person. This recent issue only just shows what a flawed idea that is. Over on the GTROC forum where I've been active for years, there are a couple of mods with Admin powers so when there is an issue (not often to be fair) it's sorted swiftly.

As the site owner, it would stand to reason that with a decent band of mods, you could delegate some rights to them and let them get on with it. I've not been on here that long but reading between the lines it seems that this Ash chap doesn't come on here often. All the more reason to let the community who actually USES the forum to ,oderate and administer it.

As long as owner communicates his overall site 'policy' (if he has one) to mods then on theory he could be as hands-off as he wishes while allowing the forum to continue operating smoothly!!

I appreciate that I'm a relative noob but plan on keeping the 306 for a good while. I also understand the workings of forums and would be happy to volunteer for mod duties if required as I'm on here a good few times a day!!!

Same here mate. I have been on here for ages and have always loved this site. I don't want to see it die a death and I personally am more than happy to pay a 5er a year. I used to pay £20 a year on PSOOC just so I could get paddock access to pugfest before they did invited members and that was the only time I'd use it.

Well, I'm sorry to say people, the second e-mail has now bounced.

This did happen once before, it's got something to do with (so I'm told) the fact Ash's e-mail is linked to the site and therefore when something happens to the site his e-mail doesn't work either.

Unfortunately, that's the only direct contact I (or any other member of the team) have with him, so it's looking like it's going to be a case of staying this way until Ash either gets in contact or comes on and notices the issue.

Sorry guys, I've done my best. Sad

Fair play Stan, no-one's questioning whether you could do more, we all know you can't. You gonna stop sticking up for him now though? Yes his 306gti6.com would fail if the domain had expired or DNS was wrong, but that's simply not the kind of issue the site is experiencing.

If you fancy emailing/PM'ing me the bounce message I might be able to tell you more, but I can understand if you don't. I do have his email address though, not like you'd be giving out secret information, I don't need to see the body of the email.

Good effort Stan, you've tried.

I'm sure at some point ash will check the forum and it'll be fixed.

There are a couple of landlines listed for him on some domain websites.

Presumably you have been emailing ashley@306gti6.com?

NO WAY DID YOU JUST GIVE OUT THE SECRET EMAIL ADDRESS

I'm pretty sure Ash lives in New Zealand and Judith's normally out on the town Saturdays.

So basically what it boils down to, is Ash needs to come on here and fully state hos intentions for the future of the site.

If he wants it to continue, then he needs to pass the power of control over to people who actually come on here.

Or if he has no interest in wanting to keep it going as a community, he needs to state that, and stop milking the cash cow.

Does it not seem a fair point to get him to talk to his paying members?

To be fair though it's his site/company and he can effectively do what he likes.

I'm sure at some point he will be made aware and sort it out. I don't for a minute think he would intentionally leave it without sorting it.

There is a lesson to be learnt from this lack of contact details shared with moderators. We could write him a letter.

Is a mod prepared to give Ash a phone call to talk to him about it?

That way maybe they can explain the need for having some power to control things here on a regular basis? Rather than him having all the power and never being here ..

I know i'm new but some sort of delegation or sharing of the power is clearly key to ensure this doesnt happen again...
