Thanks so much for this,

Where would I find those fuses? Just in the normal fuse box under the dash? (The manual is useless in identifying where I should be looking)

Ok and I'm desperately not trying to be thick here, is that saying at high speed fuses 1&2 are used which is in the fuse board by the ignition switch?

Ok ignore that, googling images of a fuse on such a diagram seems to indicate I should be looking at fuses 1-4 and. 12 and 15? Is that right?

Also any idea where mc10 actually earths to the body?

F12 F15 are in the drivers compartment
F2 F3 are in the box on the N/S wing and under this box on the chassis leg is earth point 10 (MC10)

Right, i feel like i'm making progress, thanks again guys.

So i checked all fuses with multimeter, they're all fine...

Now, i then checked the continuity of the fan motor plug, one cable (grey) runs to the back of the right hand green relay (the one that there are 2 of at the top - which i swapped over, and other fan ran fine, so can conclude that they are both ok), instant circuit...

The second cable (orange) runs to the back of the black relay that sits at the bottom of the 3 relays and has more pins.... Instant circuit again.

So i can conclude that there is no break in the wires from the plug to the relays at all, so i guess i can now state it must be one of 2 things:

1) black relay is duff - (very corroded terminals so i suspect could be)
2) no earth from the black relay to the body

So my question is, which pin represents earth on this big black plug? If i can test that for a circuit, then i know its the relay or not - just dont know which pin to try!?

Anything else i'm missing?

Cheers

Chris

Realised i was asking a dumb question, i put one end of the multimeter on the slam panel as earth and touched each point of the black relay 'socket' and they all made a circuit bar the pin which corresponds to the plug on the fan side....(which we know is ok as i've tested the continuity of that already)

So i'm pretty damn sure that means the relay is dead right?! i.e. no circuit is being made to turn the fan on with the relay in place, but we have positive and earth to the socket of the relay?

typical french feckin electrics!
Peugeot has labled their own drawing wrong the twats!..........
there is two 1509 labled relays they shouldnt be labled like that

top 1509 is LH fan relay
bottom 1509 is RH fan relay
1508 is LH+RH seiries supply relay

the top 1509 has an extra pin for the change over contact in the relay and i suspect is the black relay

just a normal 5 pin relay, found in many cars in breakers, or maplins, or motorfactors, or even a Peugeot/citroen dealer.

Thanks again Cully

I'm sorry to be revisiting old ground here, but can we categorically say that absolutely both fans should be on when i remove the brown plug?

If so, its still not working, even with a new relay ffs.

What i dont understand is the wire that appears to the be the earth at the motor end, appears to the one that then goes into the black relay (i.e. the one that does the series switching, is that right? i.e. the earth is switched? - my dad was saying thats very unusual...)

Im at a loss now, unless it is just an earthing issue for the right hand fan..

Any suggestions? (Now that i know wiring from motor to relays is ok, relays are ok, motor is ok)

Ffs this is killing me!

unplug the fans and just send 12v directly to them, see what happens?

if i just run a new earth straight to the back of the relay would that hurt or bugger up the wiring diagram above? i'm almost certain it must be the earth...

when you remove the plug the fans should come on like a failsafe. if both aren't spinning up i imagine one's fubar or a relay is sticky or the bitron unit thing is goosed
