I've tried using the search but keep getting nothing. Not one topic for cooling. (Unless I'm using the search wrong)
Anyway.
It's a T plate rallye, single fan setup.
The fan doesn't kick in when it gets hot. It had the same issue when I bought it, but swapped the whole unit.
I don't have the time to take it all apart again right now.
So what are the first things to check?
I've swapped the relay for a know good one, I've tried bridging the relay connector, but it still doesn't kick in.
All fuses are fine, will a twin fan set up go in and work? (I have 2 that I know are ok)
How easy is it to just change the fan itself?
Cheers for any help

The best engine in the world is the vagina, it takes any size piston, its self lubricating, starts with 1 finger, and every 4 weeks does its own oil change. It's just a pity the management system is so fecking temperamental.

Fan itself is easy to change - few bolts holding it to the frame.

If you can get your hands in, perhaps get undernearth and remove the wiring plug and stick 2 wires from a battery to it and see if it spins up. If it doesn't remove it and replace with a known working one. You could also check the pins of the plug to see if the fan is getting power.

If it does work with 12v applied , your fault is obviously elsewhere so then you can check the wiring loom etc.

When it comes to elec fans it'll either be...

    1. Knackered fan motor
    2. Faulty water temp switch
    3. Knackered fan relay
    4. No power to fan circuit (fuse or wiring)

Testing each one is pretty simple....
Bridge the temp switch which should fool the system into believing an overtemp situation exists. If fan runs then the switch is at fault.
For fan, pull the connector off it, bridge temp switch as above and measure voltage at connector. If 12V then fan motor knackered. If no volt then fuse or relay (or other wiring issue) to blame.

    Where's the water temp switch?
I get just under 14volts at the relay. So in guessing it's just the fan.

    No problem. Thumbs up

Yes, she's fine. Still tucked up in the garage for the last 11 months. Smile
