Certainly is a sad day, that brings back memories when i used to use unipart service items and parts, and that was going back to the late seventies when i owned my Dolomite Sprints.

Euro car parts were linked as buyers I think. Bit everytime I mention ECP at work some lad always says they're in financial trouble... Which I fail to see

Funny you say that David ...was told today ECP haven't made a profit for 3 years ?...they were after the AA & RAC contracts a while back so say .!!!....
Rumours were put around that Unipart were up for sale & had no money ...suppliers stopped giving credit & the rest I'm sure you know Thumbs up ..
It's dog eat dog out there in the Motor business it appears ...no loyalty it seems ...all about who's cheapest ...even if the cheapest is S_it ....

Very sad, UNIPART were a huge customer of ours, i've personally dealt with them for over 25 years. Out of 178 branches 33 have been bought, 12 of the branches have been bought by the Part Alliance group, and 21 have been bought by Andrew Page, so at least some of the guys will be ok. I have one of the 'saved' branches in our region where one of the lads wife's also worked for UNIPART, so imagine that, both of you out of work over night !! luckily he's ok. I wish them all the best of luck and hope they find employment soon.

My local is one of the 'saved ones'. I can't say I've heard or Andrew Page though.

To be honest I often found them a bit incompetent on occasion.

WHSmith will be next. How the hell they continue to exist I will never know.

Never heard of Andrew Paige to be honest.

We use SC motor factors who are now part of parts alliance and we were told last week that they had bought out a lot of the unipart franchises. Can't say I've ever used unipart stuff all that much really, always used purflux or man etc as they are OE suppliers.
