another stupid question from me!!

i want to split the box & engine from a scrap gti6 i've bought

engine & box is out

everything is off and there is a definite gap between engine & box yet i can completely pull the box off

im guessing its clutch / the clutch arm on the top of the box related

how do i go about releasing it so the box can be free from the engine?

any pictures on how would be awsome as well

diolch

have you got the clutch arm off by knocking (twatting) the pin out?

see post #16 and #17

it can be a bas**rd to get out, if the whole engine is out access is atleast easier. you can prize the arm upwards too a bit to lever it round but i prefer to just take the pin out

With regards to post #17 where it mentions to lift the plastic bush out - I've personally never done that. I just stick a screwdriver through the hole and turn it.

Pull the pin out with vice grips rather than knocking it in. If you do find it's siezed in, resort to bending the arm up and around.

If the pin won't budge just bend the arm upwards to clear the box so you can turn it

I normally head the arm up and bend it out of the way so that you can move it anti-clockwise enough to release the fork from the bearing.
