Hi,
Was looking at some kind of forced induction for my newly purchased gti6,
Engine rebuild is on the cards with some forged goodies,

Has any successfully manged to run a turbo set up using the standard ecu? I know the standard map sensor cant compehend positive pressure, but surely it could be subsituted for a sensor that can read positive pressure,
Arent Map sensors output signals just a voltage that changes depending on what it sees?
And couldnt chip wizards sort that out?

I couldnt find what i wanted in the search function, and hopefully it made sence

Cheers
Brett

AFAIK only Wayne at Chip Wizards can map the standard ECU, not sure if that's a problem for you?

But to buy one of those and then get that mapped you may as well buy aftermarket.

The MM1AP ecu can only see vacuum not boost so you couldn't do it even with changing the sensor as far as I know.

Dan,
No its not a problem at all if wayne can do it,
Reason i ask is that hes done all sort of stuff the standard ecu so why not a turbo?
I was thinking the other day, map sensors use voltage as an output signal right? And thats what the ecu sees, so why not use a map sensor thats designed for reading above atmospheric pressure that has an out put signal in the same voltage range as the standard map sensor? Or is there something else that im missing here?

Yes Wayne can map the standard ecu to work with turbo conversions. Been done a few times for the TU engines.

J4 does, just not with sequential ignition or injection.

Ok fair enough, i guess all the sensors stay the same then? Or will I need to change the map sensor out?
