Looking for peoples recommendation regarding a uprated or completition clutch to use in a LB purely track 306. We had the BE3 5 speed gearbox reconditioned at the start of the year and the clutch was replaced at the same time wth a standard 306 GTI6 clutch & cover plate.

Anyway the clutch has now gone and want to replace with a more robust unit as it only ever gets abused when used.

What's recommended and what have others used nd found to be good. Please include any links to sites where I can purchase the clutch from as need to get a replacement sorted ASAP.

Thanks in advance.

Standard, LBSC don't have enough torque to start worrying about better clutches hehe

What brand clutch did you have fitted and why has it failed?

You say that but I've got a very low mileage Valeo in mine and I've made it slip a couple of times on a really cold day giving it s**t out of a roundabout. Not when up at full chat but between gear changes e.g 2nd to 3rd changing sharply and harshly back on the power and it's slipped.

Most people go with a helix paddle clutch for high boost so would probably go with that.

Lol I've managed to make it slip when it's going well and driving like a complete c**t

Generally it's fine even on track etc. Wouldn't wanna do many launches with it or anything though.

Helix FTW!

Helix paddle with a Sachs cover plate is what I run on my Super High Boost.

Managing to get a standard clutch to slip on a low boost? I didn't even manage that when running a standard clutch on high boost! LOL

Why not? Or where they just covering their arse and didn't want to commit to saying it'd be ok?

What's the torque rating of them? I know of one working fine in a turbo 205 with towards 300lbs of on/off type torque.

That's a genuine Peugeot valeo 5k old clutch fitted to my low boost. 2k on boost.
I never intentionly wheel spin and never have done a stand still launch. I don't ride my clutch and only ever give the beans once rolling and that's what happened.

Not that I've seen you driving but I have given my car proper stick in all three forms of boosted and have never had this happen...
When the car was in use, although it was very rarely driven, when it was it was usually a track day/hill climb/serious fast road adventure and have never had a single clutch issue. No

I think you must be too hard on it honestly.

Actually, the last time it was used (France 2013) I most certainly did trying to keep the G-Man's R32 behind...LOL

Probably because I've done the most hard miles by far out of the SHB's and reliability has been perfect.
If you ever get yours finished and start using it, you can be a benchmark. Laugh
