Have you got underneath and assessed the situation yourself or is the car at the garage and you're going on his word?

If he's stating that the plastic end is physically broken then either allow him to source a replacement or pass him a Nissens that you supply. If you don't trust him pop in and ask to see it. For the small price a new hose is from Peugeot, I'd get one of them at the same time personally.

I'd be concerned about using a silicone reducer clamped to another hose for a pressurised coolant pipe myself. Might fit up all fine at first glance and under short test drives then pop off once up to temperature.

By all means check that it really is broken but for peace of mind i wouldn't want to have hoses clamped to other hoses.

In my experience this is always the pipe not being clipped into the radiator correctly. It can be a bit fiddly to get it clipped in correctly but if correctly fitted I've never found to pop off, and a new seal always cures leaking issues.

I'd remove the radiator and hose and fit them up off the car to confirm what the actual problem is. If the connector on the radiator is damaged then I'd replace it rather than try to botch something together.

The thermostat cap outlet joint is exactly the same as the later lower radiator connector and that never pops off.

if the wire clip has been removed from the rad neck, check it has been fitted back in the correct place as you can get it wrong letting the pipe fitting not clip in

I believe this was my fault after fitting the O ring and the pipe coming off
but the pipe drops in so easy and the clip goes on too easy it is too loose a fitting
maybe the rad pipe neck is knackered

If that is the case, it sounds like the rad neck is cracked and opening up when you put the pipe in and that's why it slides in too easily and doesn't feel secure.

    New rad time. Yes
