My gearbox is ready to poop its pants (its last a good few years of abuse Cool)
Started out it was just 3rd gear now i noticed rattles coming from reverse

Anything else i should consider changing when refitting my Diff to my spare gearbox?
any danger in me pressure washing the spare box before i fit anything?
Its pretty dirty looking from sitting for few years, i notice a few open ports/holes

And anyone recommend any particular sealant for the diff? Or anything to avoid!?

Just bung the breather, reverse detent hole and diff up and blast away.

Check the diff bearing preload but its usually fine.

Do you need to take any material off inside the housing?

Not for a quaife as far as I know, doesn't do any harm to keep spinning it as you fit it to check for any binding though Wink

Is Simple enough to do for anyone handy enough with spanners?
Just fit new bearings and seal up?
Or How would you check or set preload as mentioned?

If you can change a wheel, you can change a diff.
