The grey one immediately above the oil filter plate? I know on the pH1 its an oil pressure sensor but this is on a PH3 so not sure what it is!

So the red circled sensor in this photo (PH1 engine), which was the oil pressure switch which is blanked off on my engine, can i use that as a location for a oil pressure gauge sender?

Yes want to after my recent mishap LOL:
Haven't got room for a plate below the oil filter so would like to use one of the blanked holes in the block.

Nope, its a switch.

Sender is the larger variant used by the s16 and phase1 gti6.

Yes, exactly that. Yes

On a PH3, the switch is located above the oil filter and the other hole is plugged.

I have used this hole for installing a pressure gauge sensor. Yes

Glad to hear that because i fitted the oil pressure sender yesterday with a T piece from the oil pressure switch port and its not ideal at all. No room back there for it and its kinked one of the hoses from the heat exchanger sightly

Is this how you have set yours or have you swapped the purple and red circled switches around? I have my oil pressure gauge to fit and was wondering what was would be best?

Ive now left the pressure switch in the stock place (left hand gallery) and used the blanked off hole for the pressure gauge sender. I had to use the T piece to have it at a 90 degree to the block though as the starter motor got in the way but the sender i have is huge!

Rather poor photo but you get the idea. The T piece is obviously missing the blanking cap although at the rate it leaked, i may as well have just left it out for weight saving lol

Tbh it did just sit there between the block and starter but was rather close for my liking and i had a T piece available so thought it would be a bit easier. Its 60mm across iirc from other people whining on the net lol.
