Hi AllBought this with the intention of making a 2.2 (2187cc) 8/16v engine. The crank was nearly £1k brand new from Citroen a few years ago, still in the wrapping. I have decided since to stick to a 1.9 8v in my 205 (Until it blows up. again.) So I know I'll never get back the same money I paid for this, but offers in the region of £250. I was planning on going the whole hog with it, rods, pistons, block etc...There may well be a way to use some commonly available rods which would be the correct length, but obviously standard rods would be too long to be used with standard deck height pistons. I know of a few engines built using these cranks, all of which making upwards of 230bhp and 180ftlb (spec's varying). ________________________________________ 205 GTIXsara HDI |

Please someone buy this before I do and it sits on a shelf in my garage for the foreseeable future awaiting time and money to magically appear. You simply buy rods to the correct spec.You specify the journal size you need when you build the engine... you dont go buy pair of size 15 shoes custom made if your feet are a size 10, and end up having to wear several pairs of socks... You get what you pay for when it comes to pistons and rods. Yes you can use standard pistons, just buy rods to suit. I know of people who have paid £360 for rods, and others who have paid £750, more than just brand names, the design of the later mentioned is far superior in all aspects, most notably the material thickness around the rod bolts... Hopefully that helps people. So in short you buy crank and rods to correct spec, fit them, get engine fueling set up with extra displacement, job done. ________________________________________ 205 GTIXsara HDI |
