been asked many a times.... any recommend me an aftermarket headunit
i have already got 4 half decent speakers

i want one that i can plug my old ipod to and leave it in the glove box

and i want one that i can handsfree my phone calls and have it come up on headunit etc
and i could route a discrete mic around my steering column area
think they connect via blue tooth?

was hoping i could have both features?

Cheers
Rus.

I recently got a pioneer deh-x9500bt very happy with it even on the standard 6 speakers. It has bluetooth connectivity so can connect to Iphone/ pod/ Android etc wireless and steam music. It also has 2 or 3 USB ports on the rear so you could connect an Ipod cable that way to your glovebox.

Its also the parrot blue tooth to wireless take calls through the stereo and comes with a wired mic that as you say you can route and attach somewhere.

Also has 3 pre-outs and sub obtions in the menu etc.

It must have been on sale when I purchased as its gone back up in price now.

Looks nice and smart too. not like some of the other HU's out there what looks like something a 17 year old would put in their first car....

It also plays CD's which seems to be becoming a rarity these days as well as having a SD also...

so CD player, USB (IPOD) bluetooth streaming and SD card.. pleanty of ways to get your music Wink

This one stands out as it is extremely easy to navigate your iPod/iPhone with, SQ is good too.

I've got a Blaupunkt in my car - this is a later model:

http://www.blaupunktdirect.co.uk/car-audio/san-francisco-320.html

I like the sound quality, excellent ergonomics and understated looks. This one has direct iPhone/iPod control which mine doesn't. Not sure about the phone connectivity exactly, description is slightly ambiguous, but there will be a similar model that does.

+1 on Pioneer! I have a deh-p88RS And I love it. Getting a bit old now, but it sounds amazing, and has features like delay, so you can measure the distance from each speaker in the car to your ears; enter the value, and the unit them delays the sound by a few ms, depending on the distance, so you have the perfect stereo image!

The one I linked also has a usb plug in which I think works with some others, and an aux, and the USB also works with a remote drive/usb stick. I tend to just use a large usb stick full of music as my old ipod doesn't charge with the HU.
I have the USB stick and ipod if used in the top glove box, very handy.

It is also expandable to have a CD changer.

I don't think I've used many I prefer more than the standard phase3 unit tbh, all the aftermarket stuff seems so garish and not particularly user friendly.

USB in or AUX in is handy but that can be poatched into the CD changer input of the o.e.m unit anyway.

i have a sony bt head unit.

does music and phone calls from my phone. works flawlessly.

has a built in mic or you can plug a wired one in the back and route the cable to where u like.

also has an aux in 1/8 jack on the front but i never use that as the bluetooth works so well. you can controll your phone from the head unit. it connects automatically. so you dont even need to take your phone out your pocket or find where the bas**rd thing is hiding.
