Now then. Im going to be SORNing the 6' from 2nd December for about 6 months. Ill be storing it in a small concrete garage (it 'just' squeezes in).

Im after a bit of advice on the best way to keeping it in good nick while its sat there.

My plan so far is:

1. Put car on stands but keep a bit of load on suspension.
2. Take plugs out and spray some sort of oil into the bores.
3. Take battery out and trickle charge it.

The car has just had a oil and coolant change in the past month as well.

Any other advice would be appreciated.

my personal advice a bit strange couple of plastic trays in the car full of rice. these will suck up any moisture in the car and stop any damp inside from ponging! As for everything else spot in though as swiftyboi said its more ott

Leave the handbrake off, don't want that seizing on!

Is the concrete garage ventilated? It will condensate like mad in there if not. Arguably better off outside!

If you value your tyres, find some random s**tty wheels to leave it on. My wagon is sitting on some old cyclones and slowing wearing through the utterly wrecked, deflated old tyres that came with them.
After I get the car back on the road I'll sell them as 'top quality, high-speed tyres with no wear at all'. People will want them because they have empty lives and need something to believe in.

Don;t start it, wear is most common when starting and not getting the engine oil upto temp is bad, I have left car's for years without any issues at all, just a belt change when they come out

Sound. Yeah I'll go find some crap wheel/tyres to put it on and plus the other advice above.

I've put it in storage prematurely as of this evening. My first problem of 6' ownership happened tonight: Started it up after work and the idle started hunting between 1-2k and when driving there would be a delay when coming off throttle with a nasty jerk. So it's off in the garage and I'll have a look at the ICV and TPS at the weekend.

    Bloody cars.

Leave the car in gear, handbrake off.

Turn the engine over once a fortnight by hand, pump the brake pedal a few times and lift the handbrake a few times. That'll stop things from seizing. If you can, also roll it back and forwards a couple of times around 12 inches or so, just so the wheel bearings move etc.

You can never be too careful, put the effort in and it'll be fine the next time it gets used. Yes

I'll do as much as I can with the space I've got. I've already put it in the garage as the idle was playing silly buggers the other night so I'm back to the trusty 1.6 over winter.

Don't think the 6' liked the cold snap we had on tuesday as on the drive home the idle was hunting between 1-2k and being hesitant coming off throttle with a jolt.

Oh well, more stuff to sort.
