Hi everyone,

She just failed the MOT on a few brake-related bits. Not doing any track days and even when driving enthusiastically I'm not heavy on the brakes so think standard pads will be fine, just wanted to know whether I should get them from Pug or a factors?

Also, couple of advisories.

1. NSR brake grabbing - Assuming this means caliper rebuild time?
2. OSF disc is slightly scored - They were brand new last year so I don't really want to replace it if it can be avoided, should I get this sorted or is it fine as is?

Many thanks,
Matt

I would recommend some Ferodo premier pads from a factors. These are very good and a perfect pad before the DS2500. They hold up very well to spirited driving and mild track use.

As for the score in the disc i would change them as they don't cost much anyway. Also the score could be fouling the brake pad.

And as for the brakes grabbing get them sorted before they get worse it cools be sliding pins, or either refurb them or get a known good 2nd hand set.

Can't seem to find them anywhere but eBay, take it these are the right ones?

Is there any reason to change both front discs or just the scored one? Similarly, is it worth doing both rear calipers or just the problematic one?

Thanks mate, never got back to you ought to have an MK meet some time!
Matt

Those pads look wrong from the picture. Try jayar car parts we have one in Aylesbury so not far at all from you i will dig out the part number for you.

Probably won't be any problems just changing one disc but i would never just change 1. Do it in pairs sir.

*edit*

I'm always up for a meet and sometimes head up the stadium on a Sunday mate.

Part no: FDB999

Won't have time to get to Aylesbury this week, do these look like the right ones?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220934097205

eBay's own compatibility list doesn't list the GTi-6 but having looked at a few other bits on eBay I don't think the '6 is on eBay's lists. There's two listings for S16, 152hp and 163hp. I'm thinking the GTi-6 is incorrectly listed as a 163hp S16. The part number is right, what do you think?

I should be down there this Sunday with a mate if you're up for it? By stadium do you mean where the old hockey stadium was and is now the National Rail building? That's where it's usually at I believe.

I don't think MK has a jayar do they? Very good pads though, I find they have very good initial bite and keep biting.

Yeah the old hockey stadium mate, haven't been there for a while so I'll pass by weather permitting.

No mate been in MK all day haven't touched the A5. Ordered those and a set of rear ones, will pick up a set of Pagid front discs from ECP as they've got an offer on.

Fingers crossed should all be good!
