as per title.......

on way home from work t'other day had to swerve back onto my lane and into a large puddle (small lake) on it because of some knob in a merc not checking before he pulled onto the road. car cut out almost instantaneously.

green flag took 2 and a half hours to get to me (not happy bunny)

been sat in my garage with spark plugs out, air filter off and numerous hot air devices on it drying it out.

engine hasnt seazed and my oil n water levels are good so hopefully not too much damage internaly.

gonna try n drop the oil out put some fresh s**t in and see whats what. fingers crossed it aint broke

any other advice for me? anyone else had similar things happen?

cheers for yoru replies in advance

With all 4 spark plugs out, turn it over and see if you get any jets of water coming out.
Assuming you have a aftermarket air filer hanging on the stock hose then? I did have and got a different hose to hold it higher up to take away the chance of this!

When we had the really bad flooding earlier this year, I had to take the CDA filter off and just have the bare hose forced back over to the battery to (hopefully) ensure I didn't suck anything up.

It will probably run "ok" once you get all the water out.

However, it has *possibly* bent a rod slightly, which after a further few thousand miles may well decide to spectacularly fail. I hope not, but it has been known to happen. Sad

See what happens after it's fully dried out. Thumbs up

Engines are cheap enough. Run it until it spectacularly fails and post up photos. Then switch lumps.

Lol this happened to a mates Rallye last Christmas. Following me about 300yds up the road, hit the limiter then BANG. Big trail of bits of metal and oil down the road up until where it was parked and awaiting the AA lol.

This all sounds very familiar!...a few years back my ridiculously low hanging Pipercross hoovered up a flood that resulted in dead engine syndrome. AA took my plugs out and cranked the engine which spurted the water straight out the cylinders....all too late - two bent con rods and a whole lotta engine rebuilding. Thumbs down

Sounds like you may have been slightly luckier.....let's hope so!

sadly i think the engine is deaded. sounds like a full blown bag of nails. tis a shame Sad i might autopsy it this weekend and see what has actually gone. sounds like bearings (all of them) have gone

got a fully working xsi engine in an xsi sat on my drive. maybe i can do some frankensteins monster between the two.
