Hey guys, seemed to have picked up a knock on my drivers side suspension area. Shock, spring, wishbone are all recently new. The noise is worse if I drive over uneven ground on passenger side. Could this be a drop link isue?

It's as tight as it can be so I can get the R clip on in its correct position. There's no play in anything that I can see.

Are you sure It's from the suspension not the top engine mount? Easiest way to check other than visually is see if going on and off the power makes the noise happen.

Drop links tend to be more of a rattle than a clunk

It sounds like it could be a drop link. Yes

But do what Ryan says and make sure you don't get the knock on and off throttle.

My diesel clunked its tits off and nothing was loose etc. I thought top mounts, but turned out to be the drop links. I would give it a try, cost me less than £20 and less than an hour to change them Yes

cjm_harris, they're of the plastic type. They were new about 2 1/2 years ago. i'll take them off and see what they feel like before buying anything.

Also ryan saying that I do get a click when I power up sometimes, so I'll have a look at the top mount too to see if everything is fine.

I've got a knock, but on near side.

I felt the captive nut whilst I put a bit on the bolt and felt the captive nut was moving... not so captive.

I'm hoping this will sort mine.

I get clunks whilst braking and accelerating

I would say droplinks as well as knackered ones always sound bad over rough ground.
Also cheap and fairly easy to replace yourself.

I have lost count how many times I have replaced links, and these things can go pop very quickly depending on the state of the roads you drive on.

I would also say droplinks, had same noise your describing. One of my droplinks was buggered and made car feel a little `wallowy` around corners. Droplinks replaced and feels good again and no noises.

i had it on mine. was drop link, grab it and give it a good tug a ragg about, sometimes it takes more force than you think to make such a little rattle or clunk appear.

Droplink likely, though when i changed my passenger side last time it didn't help - turned out the balljoint was to blame. Knocked its tits off on uneven ground.
