Hi everyone,

Had this problem before but thought it was a one off, came back this morning to haunt me. Basically, I turn the key and get all the right lights, crank it and and nothing happens. Not a click or anything. Had a bit of a poke around but still couldn't seem to get her to start. Tried again after 10 minutes and she jumps to life no problems and she's been fine since.

Battery is fine and when it actually turns, starter seems fine. I'm guessing it's something to do with the wiring to the starter.

Anyone got any ideas? Had a look for the starter but can't see it, I'm told it's under the inlet manifold so would assume this has to come out to get at it.

Starter motor mate, i've just literally changed mine to a diesel one. Sorted it out thankfully.

Smile exactly the same issues you're having.

LOL

Injectors/fuel rail do not need to be touched.

All that needs doing is to undo and remove the supply and return fuel lines from the rail. Yes

Bit late I know, but fully agree on the starter being at fault.
Had to change mine at the start of the year and had to do it twice as the first new replacement was a dud Sad

Pretty straight forward to do and took me about 45 mins to swap over.
One of the bolts holding the starter on takes a bit of time to remove due to access but thats it really.

Oh, and get a new inlet manifold gasket as well while you are doing it Thumbs up

When you say diesel one, is it one to fit a 2.0 hdi 306? It a lot more powerful for starting the car?

I would fit the 1.9D Turbo personally if I was still running standard compression. Yes

And yes, it fires the engine over much, much quicker. Smile

Always felt it didn't turn over great compared to previous cars, have bought a 1.9 starter so look forward to getting it on and having it pounce into life.

Well haven't had it since swapping it over so fingers crossed all will be okay. Got to vouch for the diesel starter motor, she jumps into life now! Really such a big difference, well worth doing (or paying someone to do like I did haha)
